Sorø is centrally located on Zealand, with lakes, forests and good transport connections to Copenhagen as well as Funen/Jutland. The town offers shopping facilities, cafés, Akademihaven, a high school, childcare facilities, and both private and public schools. There is a cinema, cultural café, museums and many sports activities, including mountain biking, sailing, canoeing, kayaking and swimming. A golf club, as well as the area around Lake Tystrup and the Suså River, is located just over 4 km south of the town.
